Southwest Madison Community Survey

Ready to dive in and take the survey? Follow the links at the bottom of the page!

Over the summer of 2014, SWMCO is conducting a survey of Southwest Madison residents in the Meadowood, Prairie Hills, Orchard Ridge, and Greentree Neighborhoods. The goals of the survey are to identify assets and challenges in our neighborhoods, and in particular to identify areas where residents are ready to work together to make Southwest Madison a better place to live.  We are using door-to-door interviewers, interviewers at community events, and an online version of the survey to collect responses.  We are aiming to get at least 400 responses over the summer. We will present the results of the survey back to residents in a public meeting in Early to Mid-October, at which time we will also be looking to form work groups based on the information we gather.

Because of the size of the area we are covering, our interviewers may not come to your door at a time when you are home, but if you would like to participate in the survey, you can follow the links below to complete an online version of the survey. If you would rather talk with one of our interviewers, you can send an email to, and we will try to connect you with one of our Survey Team.

The survey is in two parts. You may complete either or both parts of the survey. Part 1 helps us to better understand our neighborhoods, their residents, strengths and challenges, and will help us identify areas to take action, or where we can provide useful feedback to the city and to community services to help the better serve residents on the Southwest Side. This part will be compiled anonymously, without reference to any identifying information.

Part 2 of the Survey we ask about your skills and interests that you might be willing to use in building stronger communities.  If you would like to become more active in building stronger neighborhoods and communities on the Southwest Side, or get connected with other folks with similar interests, or if you would like to learn more about SWMCO and the work we are doing, this is the section that will help us follow up with you and keep you informed of things happening in the area.

More questions? See our FAQ for the Survey Project, or email, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
